
The University of Alabama Wheelchair Basketball Camps
2008 Camp Brochure and Registration Form
The University of Alabama will host a two concurrent wheelchair basketball camps on June 18 - 23, 2008. One camp is for boys age 12-19 and the other is for females age 12-19. Each camp will have a separate staff of instructors, curriculum, and housing arrangements. The two camps share meals and selected activities together.
Girls Wheelchair Basketball Camp is for girls age 12-19 and will provide a curriculum for campers with a strong emphasis high level wheelchair basketball instruction. Campers planning to attend this camp should be extremely independent and have a strong interest in competitive wheelchair basketball. Staff for this camp will include the Alabama Head Coach Margaret Stran, Assistant coach Stephanie Wheeler and other top U.S.A. and Canadian National Team players.
Boys Wheelchair Basketball Camp is for boys age 12-19 and will also focus on wheelchair basketball at a high level of competition. Campers attending the boy’s camp should also be independent and ready to participate in strenuous instructional sessions up to 7 hours per day. The staff for the boy’s camp will include Alabama Head Men’s Coach, Miles Thompson, Assistant Coach Jake Counts and other players from the Alabama and U.S. National Men’s team.
Cost for the University of Alabama Wheelchair Basketball boys and girls camp is $400 for all campers. These fees include room, board, instructional costs, camp t-shirts, and administrative costs. Make checks payable to University of Alabama Disability Sports.
Housing for both camps will be in separate sections of the New Riverside Dormitory Complex on the University of Alabama Campus. Rooms, restrooms, and shower facilities are all accessible.
Packing Lists will be sent to participants about 2 or 3 weeks before camps that will have detailed instructions about what to bring and where to report.
